A hybrid manicure — often called Shellac after one of the original brands — is a gel-based polish system that cures under a UV/LED lamp. The result is a high-gloss, chip-resistant finish that holds its colour for two to three weeks of normal daily wear, which is roughly three times longer than a classic polish.
At Bahia Nails the approach is deliberately low-fuss and gentle. Every appointment starts with a careful nail-prep stage — shaping, cuticle work, light buffing — followed by base coat, two thin colour coats, a top coat, and a final cure. There are no aggressive drills used on the natural nail surface, and the products in rotation are chosen for low-irritation wear. A standard hybrid manicure takes around 60 to 75 minutes.
How long does it last?
Most clients get 14 to 21 days of clean wear out of a single hybrid manicure. The real number depends on how you use your hands — daily dishwashing without gloves, frequent gardening, or repeated contact with strong cleaning products will shorten that window. Office-and-evening hands tend to come in toward the longer end.
Coastal humidity in summer rarely affects wear time once the cure is complete — what matters most is how the nail edge is sealed during the application. That's part of the technique you're paying for.
